Ladies and gents,

I am volunteering my time to help coordinate a martial arts gym/dojo at this year's Burning Man called the Black Rock City Combat Club. Everything is being provided for free by the volunteers of my team - instruction, equipment, the dojo, transportation, etc. Unfortunately, the event is less than 40 days away and we still lack a number of items. We have tried to contact gear manufactures, but none have been interested in supporting our cause. We need your help - grassroots style.

The goals of our club are to increase awareness of martial arts among Burning Man's 45,000+ participants and to give fighters a place to train while at the event. Donations directly help to promote the sport and fighters.

More than anything we need matting. I have personally donated a 10x10 mat, a 6x4 mat, and a 8x6 puzzle piece mat. As most of you know, that's not much. Ideally, we'd have at least one more 10x10 mat. Do any of you have or know of anyone with puzzle piece mats - people use them to line garages, gyms, etc. I'm also willing to take old yoga mats, gymnastic mats, etc. Anything at this point.

Secondly we need gloves. My team will be donating about 6 pairs, but we need 20 total. Every pair helps! I will happily take used pairs that are falling apart.

Lastly, we really should have focus mitts or thai pads. I know these are less common, but if you know any ex-boxers/kick boxers please check.

I am in Orange County, CA and am willing to drive around LA County to collect gear. I'm also willing to pay shipping for large donations if you are elsewhere. Thank you for reading and asking around!
