Hi,
I'm new to the group, er, tribe. I've been studying hapkido for the past 10 years. I'm interested in learning some stick fighting techniques. My instructor has a background and some knowledge in stick techniques but no real time to spend one-on-one. I'm not bent on learning just this or that style, but want to work with someone who knows what they're doing.
Any recommendations?

Tue, June 24, 2008 - 8:28 AMDepends on where you are at, there is quite a few places to train, from Hercules, down to Fremont.
Off the top of my head, here's where I know of:
Sikaran/Modern Arnis (Hercules)
www.sikaranarnis.com/
Serrada (Oakland)
www.tribe-iesa.com/
www.umaacademy.com/
Serrada (Concord)
www.stickman-escrima.com/Teaching.htm
Senkitiros (San Leandro/Castro Valley)
www.pallensmartialarts.com/
Kombatan (Hayward/Dublin)
www.haywardmartialarts.net
You'll find most Kajukenpo schools also teach stick fighting. You'll find stick fighting classes now infused into a lot of schools or renting space/time from them as well. You just have to look around and you'll find them! :)
